"It’s a unique place. You’re walking around campus and there’s Katie Ledecky (9-time Olympic gold medalist) or some other gold medalist from different sports. We have world class facilities across the board and that’s both academic and athletic. We want to build a quality program alongside a world-class education."
We were joined on our recent webinar by Stanford University's Director of Rugby and Head Coach Richard Ashfield, who spoke in depth about the experience of being a student-athlete at Stanford, one of the best universities in the world.
"Our playing fields are second to none, but when you go into the labs and the research facilities, everything is just world class."
One other key area Richard was keen to highlight were the opportunities created by Stanford's alumni network, and for athletes playing any sport on the campus, introductions to former students in any line of business - whether working in nearby Silicon Valley or internationally - can make a huge different on career progression within or beyond sport.
Being able to make introductions to people whether its for internships, advice around jobs and careers or mentorship is great. We can point of athletes in the right direction and the guidance you can get is invaluable, which really sets us apart."
