FirstPoint USA is delighted to announce a new partnership with Brooklyn’s leading soccer club, SC Gjøa, to create a pathway for talented young soccer players to some of the leading colleges and universities in the States.
One of the oldest soccer clubs in the country, Sporting Club Gjøa was founded by members of the Norwegian Seamen Association in 1911 and is the oldest club in New York. Boasting a rich and successful history, Gjøa’s alum features three US Soccer Hall of Famers, two Herman Trophy winners and several members of the US National Team.
A non-profit organization, SC Gjøa provides soccer development for male and female players aged 3 – 18, and works with more than 800 players each year, supported by USSF and UEFA licensed professional coaches across all of its programs. Former players include Amr Aly, an alum of Columbia University who captained of the US Olympic Team and won the Hermann Trophy in 1984, and Michael Windischman who captained the US National team at the 1990 World Cup.
Andrew Kean, CEO and Founder of FirstPoint USA, welcomed the new partnership. “We are thrilled to be working with the team at Sporting Club Gjøa, one of the best-known development clubs in the States. They have an incredible soccer heritage, producing some of the leading players in the country over the years and we are excited to supporting the next generation of talent with our college soccer pathway program.”
Led by Director of Youth Soccer Lee Kellett, Sporting Club Gjøa boasts an impressive coaching team, with their pathway starting from the Little Vikings U4 – U6 age group all the way through to their Olympic Development Program an onto college soccer. Hundreds of Gjøa graduates have gone onto success at DI, DII and DIII level, and FirstPoint USA’s experienced team will now be supporting the club through that journey.
“FirstPoint USA are world leaders in collegiate soccer recruiting and we are excited to join forces with them to further develop our pathway for aspiring players,” said Kellett.
“Having a dedicated and personal service for our players and their families will enhance our support program, and with FirstPoint’s extensive network of college coaches, we are looking forward to seeing our players move through the pathway and onto some of the leading programs in the country.”
