We’re delighted to announce a new and exclusive agreement with Asmir Begović which sees his goalkeeping academy become an official partner of FirstPoint USA.
Young goalkeepers from the Premier League star’s Goalkeeper Academy in both Sarajevo and Surrey will benefit from full support securing a US scholarship with FirstPoint.
The AC Milan goalkeeper, currently on loan from AFC Bournemouth, runs his ABGKAcademy in both his home nation Bosnia and Herzegovina and in England, the country which has been his home for 15 years.
Now the former Stoke City and Chelsea star is adding an exciting pathway for any young goalkeepers keen on progressing to a US scholarship. They will be given completely free support by FirstPoint, adding to the 20,000 young scholar-athletes we have helped make the journey to the States since 2001.
Begović, 32, said: “I’ve had interest from lots of different organisations keen to help but it was soon clear from speaking to Andrew Kean that FirstPoint’s values aligned with ours and that they were the right agency to partner with.
“I want players at our Academy to become great goalkeepers but also to become the best possible people they can be. If the partnership helps just one or two of my goalkeepers over the next couple of years I’ll be delighted although I believe the potential is huge.”
The Begović family are familiar with the benefits of a US sports scholarship as Asmir’s younger brother Denis currently studies at Shaw University in North Carolina, keeping goal for Shaw Bears.
Andrew Kean, Founder and CEO of FirstPoint USA, said: “We’re thrilled to announce this exciting partnership with Asmir and his Academy. Asmir has enjoyed a truly outstanding career over 15 years to date however his achievements through his academy, and indeed his foundation, are every bit as impressive.”
