Congratulations to FirstPoint USA client, Benjamin Ansah, who has committed to a soccer scholarship at the University of South Carolina Sumter. We recently caught up with Benjamin to hear how he found the process of obtaining his scholarship, what he is most looking forward to upon beginning his life as a student athlete at USC Sumter, and about his aspirations for the future.
Benjamin tells us that he wished to attend university out in the states as he feels it will provide him with a number of opportunities in either a sports or academic career. Benjamin also added, that studying in the states will provide him with new experiences; he will not have his family around him providing help and support but, believes that he has the strength and determination to work hard and achieve his goals.
Regarding the process of obtaining his scholarship, Benjamin tells us that he found the whole thing relatively easy. He stated, “they [FirstPoint USA] have qualified and experienced staff to assist you. Moreover, the staff will help you choose the best university to suit your education level.” Benjamin added, that he could have already been out in the states by now, as he joined the program some time ago, but he kept delaying it as he felt he wasn’t ready. However, he is glad the team at FirstPoint USA listened and accepted his decision. After having waited, he now feels ready and is motivated to begin his life as a student athlete.
Benjamin has decided to attend the University of South Carolina Sumter. He tells us that there were a number of factors which influenced his decision. The newly refurbished USC Sumter Soccer Field was one factor which attracted him. Additionally, Benjamin added that he liked the range of subjects classes the school offers, as it will give him the opportunity to study various subjects. Benjamin also noted that he was drawn in by the fact the soccer team travels across states and cities to play. This is something which he has never experienced before and so is really looking forward to it.
Upon beginning his studies at USC Sumter, Benjamin tells us that he is looking forward to spending his next few years living in the states. He is looking forward to encouraging himself to work hard to achieve the best grades he possibly can to make himself and his family proud.
Finally, we asked Benjamin where he sees himself in 10 years time. He tells us that he hopes to have graduated with outstanding grades, and to be playing for an American soccer team.
We’d like to wish Benjamin the best of luck for both his studies and playing career at USC Sumter. We will keep you updated on his progress out in the states through our various social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
