FPUSA Soccer Players In Conference Championship Final

Three FirstPointUSA players - Ashley Phillips, Alex Brown and Kieran Pettigrew played in the Gulf South Conference men's soccer championship on Sunday with the University of West Alabama. They were defeated 2-1 in the match against West Florida Argonauts. UWA took the lead within 34 seconds of the match however West Florida equalised from the penalty spot on the 18th minute. The winner came on the 53rd minute, a 25 yard free-kick worthy of winning any match. UWA coach Matt Thorne had this to say after the game "I am very proud of what our lads have accomplished in just our second year," Thorne added. "We are so close, knocking on the door. It's tough to take right now, but UWA has a lot to be proud of in these young men." FPUSA is also very proud of Ashley, Alex and Kieran and we're sure they can go one better next year under the expert guidance on Coach Thorne.   UWA Coach Thorne will be at our showcase event this year as he looks to booster his squad for next season's campaign.
